Yesterday our church had a patriotic program called "Homeland". It was WONDERFUL! I cannot say that enough. As I watched the video of the people in uniform and looked at them standing up when their song was played, tears came into my eyes....I'm sure a lot of people were thinking the same thing. These people fought and risked their life for us. But I have a question. Why, if we think this, do we just honor our troops, our freedom and our homeland a few times a year? Why not 365 days out of the year? Without them we wouldn't be free like we are today. Oh sure we might be here but would we be Americans? I doubt it. It just really made me feel spoiled. We have so much when those people that were fighting for our freedom 200 years ago didn't sometimes have shoes. Even now our soldiers have less than we do. We get to sit in the AC and lay on a comfortable bed. We don't have to wake up in the middle of the night and hear shot's being fired and not knowing if your under attack or if someone was shooting an animal. The lack of respect we show our country and it inhabitants make me sad. How have we gotten so far away from where we were 200 years ago? I realize not everyone is like this and the founding fathers were not perfect but you have to admit, life seemed a lot safer from terrorist attacks and murders. It just really made me think.
